Cultural Pathways Project

Empowering Native Youth and Families Through Cultural Healing

About the Cultural Pathways Project
The Cultural Pathways Project is an empowering program that harnesses the resilience and rich cultural heritage of the local Native population to guide Native youth on a transformative journey towards healing.

Our Approach
At CIMCC, we understand the healing power of culture. This is evident in our Healing Through Cultural Arts (HTCA) program, where participants experience empowerment, gain a strong sense of identity and pride, and reconnect deeply with their culture and traditions. Imagine amplifying the healing potential of these activities even further.

That is our goal for this project. We aim to integrate the profound healing power of cultural arts with wellness techniques and tools to enhance the well-being of Native youth and strengthen family bonds. In creating this enhanced version of HTCA, we’ve collaborated closely with local Native Culture Bearers and a mental health professional to ensure the program promotes healing, sustains cultural identity, and prioritizes community.

We invite up to 10 Native youths and their families to participate this new version of HTCA, called THRIVE (Therapeutic, Healing, Resilience, Innovation, Values, Empowerment). Caregiver involvement is crucial for this project to support youth healing and nurture stronger family connections.

About Healing Through Cultural Arts (HTCA)
Launched after the 2017 North Bay wildfires, HTCA promotes healing through strengths-based cultural practices. Activities such as basket making, beading, painting, and preparing traditional foods have empowered participants, in building a sense of community and pride.

Get Involved
We invite participation in the THRIVE program. If you are a Native youth or a parent/caregiver interested in culturally sustaining wellness, join us in this transformative journey. Together, we can build resilience, foster healing, and strengthen our community.
