PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
- Two Foundational Courses:
- EMC 170: Community Health Worker Focuses on public health, health equity, and the foundational skills required for CHW certification. Students will be eligible for certification as community health workers (CHWs).
- EMC 171: Tribal Preparedness, Response, and Recovery in Community Crisis Addresses climate-driven emergencies, resilience-building, and emergency response tailored to Tribal communities.
- Hands-On Training:
- Clinical and non-clinical site placements provide real-world experience, helping students apply their skills in meaningful ways.
- Culturally Relevant Curriculum:
- The CHW curricula was developed by a Native community-based collaborative team and is taught by instructors with experience in Tribal health to ensure alignment with Tribal values, needs, and priorities
- Pathway to Careers:
- We are working on building a health care career pipeline for Native youth in collaboration with our partners. Please check back in the future for more information about recruitment, supportive resources, new courses, and career pathways leading from TCHR to other health care careers.
