  • Tribal Youth Ambassadors for Tobacco Control Project

Program Highlights

  • Healing Through Cultural Arts participants have reported a variety of positive outcomes from their participation in the program, including a sense of pride in their identity as a Native person, feeling (re)connected to their culture/traditions/history, and experiencing a sense of community. One program participant mentioned “I found (traditional arts) a large part of healing.”
  • Tribal Youth Ambassadors for Tobacco Control Project advisory council member stated, “TYA4TC Honor the Air program is unique in its program design to support Tribal communities’ connection to wellness through the use of Native oaks and acorns. The designs are vibrant, with close connections to our cultural values and connection to family and community, representing strength and resilience. The education is both fun and meaningful, teaching positive alternatives and healthy lifestyles rather than simply saying Do Not Smoke.”
