Culturally Relevant Programs for Reducing Commercial Tobacco Dependence
The nicotine, and potentially other chemicals, in commercial tobacco are addictive substances . Smoking commercial tobacco often leads to compulsive use of it, despite the risk of negative health and other consequences. Medication and recovery programs can help a person reduce dependence on commercial tobacco. Culturally relevant recovery programs are grounded in cultural values, principles and teachings to support community wellness and assist Native Peoples with recovering from addictive substances like commercial tobacco.
